From Eaglescliffe station we head for the River Tees and make a diversion for coffee and toilets at Preston Park. Then continue along the river. The first section is rural and passes through a couple of nature reserves. The second half follows the pleasant riverside walkway between Stockton on Tees and Middlesbrough with some industrial heritage and interesting bridges including the Infinity bridge opened in 2009. We also pass the Tees Barrage.
Shorts not advised as some vegetation is quite high. If you fancy a shorter walk the mid point passes close to Thornaby station.
