Overview

We will walk via Ox Close Farm and Walls Close House and along Moor Lane to Great Ouseburn and Little Ouseburn church, then Broom Field and Whixley Moor back to Whixley.  It is possible to shorten this walk to 7 miles by catching the bus back from Little Ouseburn. The highest point of the walk is 70meters but still giving good views.

Catch the no 82 East Yorkshire bus from Piccadilly at 8.45 or York Station at 8.52 to Ripon alighting at 9.18 at Whixley Stone Gate where the leader, Steve will meet you. Note that this stop is the second one in Whixley after the Vine Farm Close stop which is near the village shop (closed) and the Anchor Inn. 

Return buses from Whixley to York are at 13.48 and 15.48 (5mins earlier in Little Ouseburn.)

Refreshments in Green Hammerton  (about 20mins walk from Whixley) if needed, where there  is also another bus at 14.52 (no 84)
