Overview

This walk has been put on for the ECR Dolgellau weekend away.

Meet at 9.00 am Dolgellau Town Centre outside pharmacy in Eldon Square (SH 728178) to catch the 9.02 Aberystwyth bus to Minffordd (Cost: £1.75) (Bus passes not accepted in Wales). 8.5 miles, Strenuous 3150 ft ascent and similar descent.

From the bus stop we take the Minffordd Path steeply up through woods and to Lyn Cau. Steep climb up to Craig y Cau summit, descent and ascent to the summit of Cadair Idris. Continue along ridge, taking in two more summits, before descending gradually to Dolgellau.

Poorer weather alternative – much the same stats. Same ascent to summit, then descend on the Pony path to Ty Nant. Then about a mile of road followed by field paths and tracks back into Dolgellau. Good views of the Rhinogs on this lower path.
