This walk is in between moderate and strenuous, not suitable for children and dogs, apart from registered assistance dogs. There are quite a few stiles on the walk, some of them rickety.

From Chapel-en-Frith Railway Station we go through the tunnel underneath the railway line before we walk up a scenic footpath, leading to Rye Flatt Farm. Going forward we head towards Combs Head. The ascent up to Combs Moss is steep. After walking across the high moor, we turn to a lower rugged path looking over the beautiful Combs Valley. Leaving Combs, passing by Ladder Hill, crossing several picturesque fields, following the sun on the west, our walk finishes at Whaley Bridge.
Combs Head is among the 31 'Ethels' summits in the Peak District that are more than 500 metres above sea level. They are named after Ethel Haythornthwaite, who campaigned vigorously for the Peak District to become the UK's first National Park in 1951. MWW aims to ascend all 31 of these Ethels.
