Leader: Mary (meeting at walk start)

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Stockport Station (main entrance near the ticket office). 

Transport to Walk Start: 10:20 train from Manchester Piccadilly to Stockport

Suggested Ticket:  Off Peak Stockport Return £6.20 

Walk Start: Stockport Station at 10:40

Return Services:  Regular services from Stockport to Manchester Piccadilly

Extra: No toilet at walk start. Toilets en-route at Vernon Park cafe and at Chadkirk Chapel. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)

This is a canal, river & country/public parks' walk, taking in Stockport’s surrounding green and lush countryside along the river Goyt. There are lovely views of the Peak District and the local countryside of the Goyt Valley Way.

Some of the paths are uneven and muddy in parts so suitable footwear must be worn.

The walk is mostly flat with a few short gradual descents and ascents
