A walk in conjunction with Battlefield Trust with our guide Don Smith. At 11.00 we have been granted access to a room in the historic Gainsborough Old Hall for a pre-walk talk on the 1643 battle of Gainsborough. At 11.30 we will commence the field walk.
This battle fought on the 28th July 1643 was instrumental in Oliver Cromwell's growing reputation as a cavalry commander and saw the death of the 23 year old Royalist general Charles Cavendish. The route is over paved footpaths and largely on level streets with just one steep hill to climb, about two hours in total. There is parking available on the streets around Gainborough Old Hall. Please note a contribution of £5 is expected from non Battlefield Trust Members!
The facilities of Cafe and toilets will be available at Gainsborough Old Hall.
Please register for this walk on Newark Ramblers website where you will also see details of our car share scheme.
