One of our most popular destinations, offering walks to suit all abilities. Walks today could take you up Place Fell in the Cumbrian Mountains, or onto Helvellyn. With easer walks available at lower levels if required. Maybe you will just want to spend time on Ullswater. Wherever you go there is always the cafes and pubs for refreshments after.
Three walks will be available with details circulated on the coach. They will rage from easy to strenuous depending on the walk selected.
A Walk Leader - Dave Trembath - 10 miles with 2850ft of ascent. We start by heading south and making the steep climb up to and across various crags, continuing on to St Sunday Crag from where we begin the descent to Grisedale Tarn. From here we turn north making our way through Grisedale Valley back to Glenridding.
B Walk Leader - Janet Loines - A linear walk of approximately 10 miles with 1500ft of ascent from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding following the Ulswater Way. We follow the westenside of Ulswater with lovely views across the lake to the fells beyond, and a short detour to Aira Force. Then continuing on to Glenridding passing Glencoyn Bay which was the inspiration for Wordsworths poem Daffodils.
C Walk Leader - Dave Eccles Six & half miles, with a maximum elevation of 950ft and total ascent of 950ft. Gradual climb at the start up to Lanty's Tarn, with the rest of the walk slightly undulating. Uneven in many parts with areas of loose rock underfoot. This walk forms part of the Coast to Coast route.
