A long walk with some ascent but most of this is in the morning and none of the climbs are very steep.
We start from the car park at Gollinglith Foot and from there climb to join the Six Dales Trail for a while before skirting around the edge of Masham Moor to have lunch on the ridge overlooking Scar House Reservoir. From there we head around and descend to follow Steel House Gill in a gully that hopefully will be coated each side in beautiful heather. As we all know the heather season is in the lap of the gods so if not, the valley is very pretty in its own right.
A lot of the walk is on good tracks but there footpaths not so well defined (with a bit of heather hopping in places) and 5 stiles - a couple of which are not in very good condition.
Please note the early start time of 9.30. This is to allow time for the longer distance.
Car share where possible as the carpark is small.
