We will take a brisk pace along the river from London Bridge to Greenwich, with lunch at Canary Wharf. This is a feature-(and flat!)-packed walk which picks up numerous points of interest. We set off from London Bridge and soon cross the world-renowned feat of Victorian engineering that is Tower Bridge to spend most of our walk on the north bank, enjoying scenic views of the river and its architectural heritage, occasionally detouring from the Thames Path to avoid work on London's latest mega project, the Thames Tideway Tunnel.
When we reach Canary Wharf it will be time to slow down and marvel at a selection of the estate's 100 plus works of public art and enjoy our picnic lunch up on the hugely impressive roof garden above the Elizabeth line station. We then wind our way back to the river and pass the slipway where the largest ship of its time, Brunel's SS Great Eastern, was launched. When we reach Island Gardens we cross back under the Thames via Alexander Binnie's Greenwich foot tunnel, ramble through the Royal Naval College Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site and end our route at one of Greenwich's stations.
