Our group offers walks which are accessible by public transport and take place throughout the South East of England plus a summer holiday and a New Year break
A moderately paced linear walk led by Melanie R (Mobile No: 07939 608946) through attractive farmland, a forest with countryside views and a country estate. The approach to St Albans is through the old town and past the cathedral. The walk is fairly flat with no steep ascents or descents. In the morning the route is on unpaved paths but the afternoon is mostly on hard surfaces
The highlight of the morning is the relatively newly planted Heartwood Forest. Lunch is in Sandridge where there are pubs and a cafe for drinks but please bring a packed lunch. This is a possible dropout point as there are buses to St Albans but these are infrequent especially on a Sunday. The afternoon is through the Childwickbury Country Estate, one home of Stanley Kubrick before arriving at St Albans. Map: E182, L166.
