Overview

A moderate- to brisk-paced circular walk led by Thomas G (Mobile No: 07775 676092) joint with Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster Group with negligible ascent - about 4 1/4 hours walking. Route: SW along the New River to Broxbourne church, lane to the River Lee, towpath and lanes through Turnford Marsh and along lakes (ex gravel pits), along Turnford Brook and across the Lee to Holyfield Marsh, lakeside path in River Lee Country Park to Fishers Green, along paths and along Cornmill Stream to Waltham Abbey and its gardens, lunch break (pubs, cafes, garden benches), roads to River Lee, towing path north then through Waltham Marsh, Hall Marsh and Turnershill Marsh, mixture of towing paths and lakeside paths back to Broxbourne. Dropouts at Cheshunt Station (16.2 km) and before that, halfway at Waltham Abbey (buses to Waltham Cross Station).
