This beautiful walk starts and ends in the pretty Peak District village of Hartington. There are plenty of cafes, pubs and shops for refreshments and a great Cheese Shop! The route takes you beside the sparkling River Dove through some of the finest lime stone dales in the area, including Beresford Dale, Wolfscote Dale and Biggin Dale, before returning to the village on quiet country lanes with far-reaching views over the surrounding hills. Mainly over fields, reasonable paths and lanes, however part of the path is lime stone which could be a little tricky if it is wet - so I would recommend poles. There are public toilets at the start of the walk. There may be cows at the beginning of the walk but they are usually very friendly!!!
This is a repeat of the mid week walk from last September which was very popular!
Please note the start time is 10.30 am -you may wish to bring lunch / snack for the break which will be a little longer than usual. We will be back in Hartington around 2pm. There are plenty of cafes, pubs and shops for refreshments after the walk, or you can pick up a packed lunch from the post office tea rooms. EASY / MODERATE only 1 small climb that we will take slowly and stop to admire the views.
