Meet at Danebridge opposite the pull in for Winkle Brewery at 10.00am. Parking is along the road between the Ship Inn and the bridge at Danebridge.
This lovely and not too long a walk which ticks a lot of boxes will be familiar to many walkers. From the start, we head up hill and follow a track towards Whitelee then downhill to the River Dane. After crossing the river at Gig Hall and following for Hannel, we rejoin the road and turn onto a track at a lodge for Swythamly Hall. We go past Park House then make the short climb up to Hanging Stone, and follow the Roaches ridge to Roach End. We go down through Forest Wood and Lud’s Church then follow the Dane Valley Way back to Danebridge.
The route: Danebridge - Whitelee - Gig Hall - Hannel - Snipe - Park House - Hanging Stone - The Roaches - Forest Wood - Lud’s Church - Dane Valley Way - Danebridge.
