Starting from the hamlet of Hartsop, we will follow the beautiful Pasture Beck up Pasture Bottom (!!) crossing various becks and a very small boulder field (the path is obvious through it) before starting our ascent to Threshthwaite Mouth - this will be strenuous but is on a good pitched path. Then, we will ascend to the very well known landmark of Thornthwaite Beacon - again, this ascent will be strenuous and some of it is on scree but both ascents will be taken at a very moderate pace. The views from the tops of both ascents with the right weather can be spectacular. Next, easy walking takes us along to High Street.
We will contienue along High Street and take a very short ascent to The Knott (this is optional) and from here we start our descent on a lovely path all the way down with views to Gray Crag and Hayeswater.
All of the walk is on good paths, some of them rocky and the descent is on a partly grassy path both of which may be slippery when wet.
