A walk through one of the most delightful valleys in the Lake District. We start near the northern end of Crummock Water, contour the base of Whiteside to reach the picturesque village of Lorton, and return via quiet lanes and pastures, with a diversion over the top of Scale Hill just before the end.
The walk is on good paths, tracks and quiet lanes, and crosses becks by footbridges, apart from one where you may prefer to have a walking pole. It will be done at a moderate pace. There is a steep but short descent near the end where a pole may also be useful. We will be parking in a National Trust carpark, please bring a National Trust card if you have one.
