Overview

This is a high walk from Haslemere to Temple of the Winds, Blackdown. From Haslemere we walk East passing stud farms, through woods and heathland, following parts of the Serpent and Sussex border trails to the South. We climb uphill approx 600ft to reach the Temple of the winds (our total ascent is 1,238ft ) with magnificent views over valleys to the South and South East . After our picnic lunch at the Temple, we return across Black Down to Haslemere with more views to South West. We will walk at a moderate to fast pace, the walking time is 3hrs 45mins.

We will have two short breaks for a drink and picnic lunch. There are no cafes or facilities on route. This is a sandy area, with limited muddy patches. Bring poles if you normally use them. If it’s snowing, we won’t walk!
