This is a great walk for early May as the Rhododendrons and Azaleas should hopefully be in full bloom. The walk takes us around part of Virginia Water lake and then across Windsor Great Park to the statue of the Copper Horse on Snow Hill, which will be our picnic lunch stop with dramatic views down Long Walk to Windsor Castle and beyond and then back to the start
The walk is largely flat with only a few minor hills and it should be easy walking with little mud. Because this is a Bank Holiday weekend I am starting our walk a little earlier at 9.30 to try to avoid the crowds. We will be starting from the large Savill Garden car park and meet outside the coffee shop/restaurant. Car sharing is recommended as all the Park's car parks are expensive (£15.80 for over 4 hours). Public loos are available at the start/finish. Please bring a picnic, water, coffee and any other refreshments
Parking is the Savill Garden car park of Wick Lane. Nearest post code TW20 0UJ. (I'm starting there rather than the main Virginia Water one as it is a bank holiday and likely to be very busy). Car sharing recommended the charge for over 4 hrs is £15.80. Payment by card rather than an app. Loos and coffee available.
