This mostly moderate walk (with a couple of steeper stretches) goes over Throstle Bank and up to Cracken Edge then across to Shireoaks and South Head before descending down to Kinder Reservoir and returning to Hayfield.

Conditions were mixed on the recce, with mist, snow, mud and standing water and the occasional burst of sunshine.

Gaiters and poles recommended. The views (below the clouds) are stunning.

The route: Sett Valley CP - Ridge Top - Foxholes Clough - Throstle Bank - Over Hill Road - Cracken Edge - The Naze - Shireoaks Farm - South Head - Broad Clough - Kinder Reservoir - Sett Valley CP.

This is a mixture of paths, tracks, bridleways and lanes. Muddy stretches guaranteed.
