Join us for an 8½-mile circular walk starting and finishing at Hertford East railway station. We will head out through open countryside and follow the River Mimram into the beautiful Panshanger Park, a historic landscape of meadows, ancient oak trees, lakes and woodland.
The walk offers a lovely mix of riverside paths, parkland and quiet field tracks, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy birdlife and wide, peaceful views. One highlight is the Great Oak of Panshanger, said to be over 500 years old.
The route is mostly flat with a few gentle inclines, making it accessible for most regular walkers. Paths can be muddy after wet weather, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
There are toilet facilities in Hertford town at the start and finish.Bring Packed lunch as it's 8.5 miles walk.
Parking and train access are available at Hertford East station, making this a convenient meeting point.
