Overview

Epworth to Owston Ferry taking in High Burnham on the way back. Starting in the small town of Epworth (the birthplace of John Wesley the founder of Methodism) the route is mainly over fields and dyke side paths to the village of Owston Ferry by the side of the Trent. On the way back we will pass "Holy Well" which is supposed to mark the site where King Oswald later St Oswald was slain (an alternative claim to Oswestry). The well was supposed to contain healing properties and was once a site of pilgrimage.
