Easy/moderate walk from Congleton heading part way up to Cloud Side.
This is an easy to moderate walk, along towpaths, footpaths across fields, some lanes and tracks. A few gentle ascents.
Our route: along the canal heading northeast, down to Dane-in-Shaw Pasture (an SSSI), towpath again, head for Pool Bank, Overedge, Biddulph Valley Way, Castle Inn Road, Dreamcatcher Meadows, past the Cricket Club, then some road walking (on pavements) to the canal again, and return to start point.
Can be very muddy in places; bring poles if you normally use them. Several stiles.
Well behaved dogs welcome, on short leads at all times. We pass near sheep on part of the walk, and sometimes there are bullocks in the Dane-in-Shaw Pasture.
Pack your ICE cards, a drink and snack for mid-morning.
GPX will be available on ECR website soon.
