6 miles - easy, one stile, mostly tracks and some footpaths.
Route - We walk along the old trackbed of the Macclesfield to Leek railway to the dam at the end of Rudyard Lake. There are toilets and a cafe where we can stop after crossing the dam. Or bring your own refreshments if you wish. Then we walk back through woodlands, across fields and over a lake feeder stream. Here you might spot willow tits. We rejoin the trackbed and return to the car park/ Knot Inn.
Some paths can be muddy after rain and a stick could help over some uneven patches.
