Starting the walk from Leigh, we head north-west towards Charcott, past Hall Place Estate and through Home Covert wood and Price's wood. We then pass a relic of the Cold War, the Penshurst ROC post, an underground nuclear monitoring station, before heading south. We pass through more woodland and will then stop at Penshurst for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we head north-east, walking part of the Eden Valley and crossing the weir back towards Leigh. With any luck, some of these woods we pass through, should be carpeted with bluebells.
Start point is on the Green at the junction of Powder Mill Lane and the High Street.
Please bring a picnic lunch.
No dogs please as we pass through farms.
The walk leader cannot guarantee the presence of said Bluebells, but will carry out a recce a few days before the walk and report back on the Sevenoaks WhatsApp group. Fingers crossed!
Please note there is no car park in Leigh, so please park considerably around the Green, along Powder Mill Lane, the High Street and Lower Green. Car sharing is recommended. There is also a train station in Leigh, a 5 minute walk to the start point.
