Easy initial stretch west along Llangollen Canal then Clwydian Way to Valle Crucis Abbey (1201ft) and on to Offas Dyke Path to take us to the ascent to Castell Dinas Bran medieval hillfort (1265ft) at 975 ft above the town. The 325ft of ascent up to Castell Dinas Bran could be classed as quite strenuous but we will take it slowly. Risk assessment: Stony tracks, one stream crossing.
