Overview

Area long walk. This will be a walk of around 10miles and  435m ascent

This route has several uphill sections - short but reasonably steep. There are, correspondingly, downhill sections making this an undulating walk. I have done the beginning section of this walk with The Weekend Walkers (in case it looks familiar!)

Walsden is the station before Todmorden, and shares many features of its better known neighbour such as lovely views and an interesting stretch of canal where we begin the walk. There are some little used, overgrown narrow paths that require care, although paths are well surfaced on the whole. We have a stretch of marshy, boggy land by a pond, a  meadow and we go through someone’s garden. Along Langfield edge, for a short while, we follow a path overlooking a steep drop.                             There are grassy, cobbled and flagstone paths along the route and small foot-bridges over streams. There are also 2 pop-up shops/cake boxes so bring some cash!

The walks will invariably involve ascent and descent, some of which may be steep. They will usually, depending on the weather, be soft and/or muddy, sometimes with ill defined tracks across fields or moorland - ensure you have appropriate footwear. Please consider your personal fitness and ability before attending the walk - if you're not sure, feel free to contact us for advice on the potential conditions, whilst the leader will base the walk on their own ability and may issue instructions where appropriate, you are ultimately responsible for your own safety. Please wear appropriate clothing for the prevailing weather, plan for the worst and hope for the best, bring any essentials and lunch.
