Limited numbers - booking required**
The first in a series featuring London's 'lost' rivers - this is a walking 'discovery' day tour with many stops along the way for informative, sometimes detailed, talks.
About 7.5 miles in total with many drop-out points along the way.
Note: the estimated 'finish' time is very much a 'guesstimate' - the actual time will depend on many factors including the overall speed, numbers and make-up of the group, time taken for lunch etc. The mileage is not the deciding factor!
Just one gentle uphill from Hampstead Village to the Heath (which could be muddy) to find the source of the Fleet. Then, following the mostly 'hidden' underground route, gently down and continuing on mostly flat and paved surfaces through urban London to the Thames at Blackfriars Bridge.
Note: to complete the walk in reasonable time the pace between stops will need to be quite brisk!
Route: From Hampstead Heath to the River Thames at Blackfriars... tracing the course of the (mostly hidden) River Fleet from it's source high on Hampstead Heath downhill through Camden, King's Cross and onwards to Blackfriars (Fleet Street) where it joins the Thames.
Meet at Hampstead Underground Station (Zone 2/3 - Northern line) at 10.00.
Lunch Stop: Picnic or café in Camley Street Natural Park, or choice of pubs/cafes in King’s Cross/St Pancras area.
Finish: Blackfriars Station (Zone 1 - Central/District lines & Rail).
Leader: Ann A (on walk day only - 07884 410 812).
