We will walk from the car park through Luddenden village, past the church and out along lanes eventually climbing a cobbled lane out onto the moors above Luddenden where you will get fabulous views across the Airedale valleys. From here we'll walk along a metalled ridge until we reach a castellated gate house, where we take a steep descent through fields to another hamlet and another castellated gatehouse. Again we walk along a ridge before climbing steadily up a lane into another field, cross a high style then up again to reach the moor at the other side of the valley. Again, a level walk before descending back to Luddenden and back to the car park.
As with any walk at this time of the year, it may be wet and muddy in places. There are some quite steep descents, occassionally on narrow tracks, so walking poles may be an advantage. As usual, we are crossing fields and country lanes, so don't be surprised to see cattle and sheep.
There is a toilet block at the car park, however when I did the recce they were all locked up.
