Overview

We will walk from the Waterton Country Park Visitor Centre around the Wintersett Reservoir and follow a field path around the Waterton Estate passing Walton Hall. We will stop for a picnic lunch at Walton Hall overlooking the lake. Hot and/or cold drinks can be purchased at the coffee bar operated by the hotel opposite the picnic tables. On our walk we may be lucky to have an encounter with the Gruffalo!?
We will return along the now redundant Barnsley to Wakefield Canal around Haw Park Woods and back to the Visitor Centre where there are toilets and a cafe. At the end of the walk we have a choice of refreshments at the cafe or the Anglers Retreat Pub 400yds around the corner in Wintersett village.
