We will walk from the Wintersett Country Park Visitor Centre around the reservoir/lake and follow a field path around the Walton Estate passing Walton Hall. At some point we will have a picnic lunch stop. We may be lucky to have an encounter with the Gruffalo!? We will return along the now redundant Barnsley to Wakefield Canal around Haw Park Wood and back to the Visitor Centre where there are toilets and a cafe where for those of us who wish may gather for coffee/tea and Cake!?
There are only one or two styles and the paths are good.
There is a local bus service from Wakefield to Wintersett Village which is approximately half a mile from the Visitor Centre CP.
Visitor Centre CP fee is £2 for 4 hours.
