Take the 9.30 train from Liverpool Street (Stratford 9.38) to Manningtree. Buy a cheap day return to Wrabness.
This walk is part of the Essex Way. It passes through the old town of Manningtree, Mistley, and culminates in a close encounter with Grayson Perry’s fantasy “House for Essex”.
Bring a picnic lunch. We will stop at the Village Maid pub in Bradfield at lunch time. They don’t do food but are happy for us to eat our sandwiches inside or outside provided we buy drinks.
There is a half hourly bus which stops outside the pub and goes to Manningtree for anyone who wants to drop out.
Otherwise return is from Wrabness, where there is an hourly service, change at Manningtree. There is nowhere to have a drink at Wrabness but there is a station buffet at Manningtree station.
I will be gettting on the train at Stratford.
If you want to come on this walk be sure to check for any changes before setting out. Bear in mind you walk at your own risk.
