Take the 9.30 train from Liverpool Street (Stratford 9.38) to Manningtree. Buy a cheap day return to Wrabness.
This walk is part of the Essex Way. It passes through the old town of Manningtree, Mistley, and culminates in a close encounter with Grayson Perry’s fantasy “House for Essex”.
Bring a picnic. We will stop at the Village Maid pub in Bradfield at lunch time. They don’t do food but are happy for us to eat our sandwiches inside or outside provided we buy drinks.
There is an hourly bus which stops outside the pub and goes to Manningtree for anyone who wants to drop out.
I will be gettting on the train at Stratford.
This is a provisional description, based on last time I led the walk. To be confirmed, revised or added to after I’ve done a walkover, about a week before the actual walk.
If you want to come on this walk be sure to check on any changes nearer the time.
