We start by walking through the lovely Mardley Heath Nature Reserve woodlands, through Rableyheath and Old Knebworth and into Knebworth Park.
We walk past Knebworth House and the church of St Mary and St Thomas of Canterbury, along the tree lined avenue before circling around the edge of the estate passing the Cenotaph. The resident herd of Red and Sika deer can often be seen here.
Leaving Knebworth Park we carry on along Slip Lane, through New Wood, along Sally Deard’s Lane and on towards Codicote (Sally Deards was believed to have been a 17th/18th century witch who was chased by a gamekeeper and turned herself into a deer).
We then head east to the renowned Spokes Cafe where we can take a break with the option of tea/coffee and cakes before we continue through Pottersheath and finally back to Mardley Heath.

We will meet at Mardley Heath Car Park on Heath Road, Mardley Heath, Woolmer Green, AL6 0TP.
The car park is free as is entry to Knebworth Park,  provided we keep to the footpaths and don’t use any of the facilities in the estate including the cafes and toilets.
Refreshments and toilets should be available at Spokes cafe, Ridge Farm, Codicote which at the time of writing is open 9am - 5pm on Wednesdays but you may want to consider bringing your own drinks and snack.
This walk is mainly on made up paths, however,   we also walk across fields which may be muddy so please wear suitable footwear.
