Why go Christmas shopping when we can ramble? We begin our walk from Youngsbury Lane in Wadesmill, ascending into the park where we then veer away to Marks Wood. On the other side we pick up the footpath running parallel above the A10, skirt by Great Southey Wood and, after crossing a small airstrip, we pick up Harcamlow Way to descend to Barwick Ford. There are some beautiful views and we may be lucky to see a herd of deer in the distance. From the ford we ascend through Sawtrees Wood to skirt Sawtrees Farm. We eventually cross a road to pick up footpaths across fields where at certain points it's possible for a glimpse of the London skyline. Our walk then turns north to head our way back toward Wadesmill, but on the way we will stop at Old Thundridge Church where the building is currently undergoing renovation to stabilise it for the future
There is plenty of roadside parking throughout the village and the Feathers pub carpark can be used but only if you are intending to use the pub after the walk. There is also Ermine Tea Room which offers a great range of lunchtime treats...including cake
