A lovely 8 mile walk, starting from the front of the Church in the centre of Tideswell on Commerical Road (across the road from Elliot's Fish & Chip Shop). There is on road parking in the village.
The walk will follow field, woodland and riverside paths, with some short sections along quiet country roads.
The route will take us up to Litton Village before desending down Tansley Dale and then climbing up and over into Cressbrook Dale. There are commanding views over the Derbyshire Dales countryside as we cross between dales.
At the end of Cressbrook Dale we will follow the River Wye to Litton Mill, where we will ascend to the Monsal Trail in the direction of Millers Dale. From there we will follow the Limestone Way before turning off in the direction of Tideswell and our start point.
The geology of the area is Limestone which can be slippery when wet. There is a very short section where the footpath crosses an uneven limestone outcrop. If you normally walk with poles, they may be helpful on this walk.
There may be livestock in the fields along this walk.
