A walk where we will pass several Neolithic/Bronze Age sites and there will be good views. The walk should take 5 to 6 hours.
N.B. Once on the open hillside there is no shelter and no easy escape routes.
Walkers should ensure they are suitably equipped for terrain and weather.
The walk will take us from the village of Pontarddulais via paths and minor roads to Cwm Dulais – (the site of an old colliery).
We then ascend to the top of Mynydd Pysgodlyn.
From here we will follow the road to Cwm Cerdinen where we will turn to visit the Lily Pond.
After that there is a steep climb through rough, boggy ground, followed by a long section of featureless, open moorland with rough, boggy tracks to the top of Graig Fawr.
We will then have a long descent on good paths back to Pontarddulais.
Toilets: In the pub after the walk.
Terrain: Paths, minor roads, Rough boggy ground and moorland.
Social after walk:
Afterwards, we will go for refreshments to the Buck Inn in Pontlliw.
