We start in the picturesque centre of New Alresford, famous for watercress and the Watercress Steam trainline, before heading off to walk along the river Alre, passing the eel house and then the vineyard. Taking the Wayfarers Way, we head up to Fobdown Farm, past some old watercress beds and onto Abbotstone, taking a quiet road to Northfield Plantation, then through the estate grounds to the Grange an English Heritage property, which holds a 6 week music and dance festival every June. After lunching in the grounds, we retrace our steps to Northfield and walk through the plantation, over fields to the highest point on the walk and we may be rewarded with some good views, before descending to Old Alresford and past the watercress beds and old fulling mill, back into New Alresford
Numbers are not limited but please book on line at the website link, by 6pm, Saturday, 22 November.
