Overview

We will follow the Mid-Wilts Way south to Bidcombe Hill and across Whitepits Down to Kingston Deverilll, stopping for lunch at the church.  We will then make our return over Mill Down with views of Monkton Deverill and Brixton Deverill, heading towards Hill Deverill before taking byways to Shute Farm and back along the edge of the forest to the car park.  Downland and byways with a small amount of quiet lane walking.  Hilly in places but not too arduous.  Bring lunch.

Meet at Nockatt Coppice car park (Heaven’s Gate), NE of Horningsham, nearest postcode BA12 7LG – probably best not to rely on postcode as nobody seems to be able to agree what it should be, have also seen 7PU, 7LA & 7LE quoted! Take the left turn off the Picket Post roundabout on the A362 to Corsley (signposted Longleat), then continue straight on for approximately 1.5 miles through Longleat Forest. The car park is on the left.
