Overview

Inspired by John Price’s new book ‘Family Days in the Wylye Valley’, this walk will include Heytesbury and Knook, Upton Lovell and Corton.  Being down in the valley, there will be no significant hills but it could be damp underfoot following heavy rain; expect decent views of the surrounding hills, however.  Nikolaus Pevsner enthused about old churches and mills, picturesque cottages and the Hospital of St John, almshouses dating from the 15th-century.  There will also be occasional glimpses of the River Wylye, where a day’s fly fishing would set you back £145 at the peak of the season.  Bring a snack.
