We are the West Mendip Walkers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

West Mendip Walkers 8.5 mile moderate walk. From Ashwick & Oakhill Village Hall we proceed westwards on fields and lanes to join Limekiln Lane crossing A37 towards Maesbury Hill Iron Age fort (950ft) with views southwards to Glastonbury Tor. We then follow the lane towards Thrupe village to join a new section of Shepton / Windsor Hill Tunnels multiuser path on the former Dorset & Somerset Railway line southwards for about 2 miles. Recrossing the A37 beside Kilver Court & the Babycham factory we join Fosse Way route northwards to Beacon Hill (950ft) nature reserve & woodland. We then walk down to Oakhill primary school and Wesleyan Methodist chapel (1825) below the village hall & recreation ground. Dr. Fosters café and community shop now occupies the Chapel offering tea & cakes. This walk has a few gentle climbs.
