Overview

West Mendip Walkers moderate 10 mile walk from Combe Hay. A gradual, short ascent takes us up out of the village with nice views of the manor estate. From here we walk along the top of the hillside to the hamlet of White Ox Mead. Bridleways, 2 small sections of minor road walking and a riverside walk will lead us to the Long Barrow at Stoney Littleton where we can stop for a short visit. We then make our way via fields to the nearby village of Wellow for our lunch stop in the 14th century church. From here a walk through Hankley Wood and a short ascent will take us to Middle Twinhoe following which we enjoy nice views of the surrounding countryside as we make our way gradually downhill through fields back to Combe Hay. Post walk refreshments at The Wheatsheaf which is a short distance from our cars. Dog friendly, 4 stiles, several short lane stretches and two very short, gentle climbs.
