A gentle stroll in-and-around the Poulshot area. No real hills, a gentle pastoral landscape with no dramatic highpoints. To quote William Cobbet, although he was on a horse, this is simply a ‘pleasant rural ride’. From the Raven in Poulshot, the walk will go to Whistley Farm, Five Lanes, Eastnell Lane and Townsend back to the start mainly on tracks and byways. There will be a short detour to visit St Mary’s Church in Poulshot. Park in the vicinity of the pub but not in the car park which is for patrons only. If you plan on eating at the Raven after the walk, give them a ring on 0333 041 5539 to ask for permission to park there. The Raven has a postcode of SN10 1RW. I will probably cap numbers at ten cars, plus any others that do get permission to use the Raven’s Car Park, to avoid creating a ‘situation’ that might upset the locals. Consequently, please let me know if you are car-sharing. This walk is easy; flat with just one leaning stile.
