A linear walk to Guildford Station led by Thomas G (Mobile No: 07775 676092) joint with Kensington, Chelsea & Wandsworth Group. 15.2 km/9.4 mi with 310m ascent, i.e. 4 hours of walking, which explores the area SE of Chilworth (Blackheath Forest) and the Tillingbourne Valley before ascending onto St. Martha's Hill and leading via Pewley Down and Guildford Castle to the station.
Route: A248 west to footpath N into Tillingbourne Valley, E to pick up Downs Link to cross A248 and railway line, footpaths SE to Postford Farm Cottages and Ford Farm, lane S into Blackheath Forest, W and NW through forest and heath to lane N to Chilworth, lunch, A248 west to footpath N into Tillingbourne Valley, E to Postford Pond/Albury Mill, N and NW through Colyers Hanger up onto St. Martha's Hill, W along NDW to Halfpenny Lane, NW along bridleway down and up to Pewley Down, lane NW down to Guildford Castle and into town centre.
Lunch: 'The Percy Arms' pub in Chilworth (7.1 km) https://www.thepercyarms.net/ (or bring a picnic). Dropout: Chilworth before/after lunch (two-hourly service only though, to Guildford or Redhill). Map: E145, L186.

Chilworth Station (Thameslink train from London Bridge at 10:00 (Horsham service), calling at East Croydon at 10:17. Change at Redhill at 10.35 for the 10.40 Reading service which arrives Chilworth at 11.07. From Victoria, take the 09.54 Ore service to East Croydon).
Guildford Station (Return trains: 16.19 likeliest (fast trains every 15 minutes).
