Starting from Portbury, we follow paths, tracks and short stretches of quiet road through fields and woodland with some good views, particularly from Cadbury Camp.
Hopefully there will still be some autumn colour particularly in the beech woods, but you may not be lucky enough to see an elephant as I did when pre walking.
The morning is longer than the afternoon and so we will have two stops to allow more opportunity for refreshment. Our lunch stop will be in Clapton in Gordano where those who wish can visit the Black Horse.
A number of well made stiles in the first part of the walk.
Seasonal hazard of fallen leaves covering loose stones and tree roots so some care needed. At time of pre walk very little mud but persistent rainy weather might change this.
