Overview

A fairly leisurely walk from the Montgomery Canal up to Powys Castle and back via Welshpool and the canal. There are a couple of short ascents across fields and woodland but nothing too steep. A total ascent of 500ft. There maybe a few stiles but most have been replaced with kissing gates.

Bring your own refreshments, we should arrive at the Castle in time to eat your packed lunch. If you have a National Trust Membership, bring your card if you want a short stop in the gardens.

Hopefully, we will get back in time for tea and retail therapy in Charlie’s at Coed-y-dinas.
