A 7-mile walk that connects four Staffordshire villages: Hamstall Ridware, Pipe Ridware, Mavesyn Ridware and Hill Ridware. From the Shoulder of Mutton Inn in Hamstall Ridware, we walk over Cowley and Hunger Hills, which form a kind of ridge. We then descend into Pipe Ridware. From here, we head southwest to Mavesyn Ridware, with its church, historic Old Hall and gatehouse. We then go north around a lake and through Hill Ridware, past some fish breeding lakes, then heading broadly northeast back to Hamstall Ridware, with good views of the listed ruins of Hamstall Hall, before we return to imbibe at the Shoulder of Mutton Inn. Food service ends at 14:00 and drinks service at 14:30. however, when recceing the pub was still open at 14:45!
Please be aware: there are a number of stiles, not all of which are in great condition, and are a bit rickety.
