After meeting in the Orange Car Park (Charging Stations) we walk towards the rear of Meadowhall, by Hadfields Weir “viewing point” (Just outside Weatherspoons)
We follow the River Don out towards the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal and Tinsley Locks.
This is a well kept secret with a 3.5m quiet and well maintained towpath which bypasses the hustle and bustle of city life.
Passing the recently erected “Looping Canal Boat” sculpture (worth a visit alone) we make our way towards the end of the canal
and marina at the historical Victoria Quays.
After a break here we head back towards the River Don and follow The Five Weirs Way, back through the city towards Meadowhall.
Keep your eyes out here as there are often several Kingfishers and lots of Sand Martins along the banks of the river.
This section is a little more industrial and a few small sections cross roads and streets, but this does not detract from the natural beauty of the River and associated wildlife.
