Overview

Great views and interesting sights on this varied walk. We start in Shoreham, crossing the Old Tollbridge to head over to Lancing college and up Steep Down until we reach Annington Hill and the South Downs Way. From there we descend to the River Adur, passing through the delightful hamlet of Botolphs and its Saxon church where we will stop for a picnic lunch. We make our way back to Shoreham via the banks of the river (or the Downslink if conditions are wet).

We meet in the bus shelter outside the Red Lion pub on the Old Shoreham Road. The No.2 bus stops here or you can get a train to Shoreham Station and walk from there (about 15 minutes). There is plenty of free off street parking behind the pub, on the Upper Shoreham Road or in nearby Connaught Avenue.
