This is a circular walk, starting and finishing at Southease Youth Hostel. The walk follows the South Downs Way, towards Mill Hill, crossing the Ouse and allowing a chance to enjoy the snowdrops in Southease churchyard on the way. From Mill Hill, the walk continues to Rodmell, where it passes Monk's House, the former home of Virginia and Leonard Wolfe. Leaving Rodmell, the walk continues along a lane through flat open country towards the Ouse. The walk returns along the raised river bank towards the bridge and back to the Southease Youth Hostel.
There are toilets and car parking at Southease Youth Hostel. The YHA is best approached from the A26. A train to Southease leaves Brighton Station at 9.36 (London Road 9.39) and arrives at Southease Station at 10.06. It is a short walk from the station to the starting place. There is a short section of chalk path that may be slippery so sticks are recommended. We will stop for a coffee during the walk so please bring a drink and a snack with you. There is a cafe in the Youth Hostel.
