This long distance path goes from Wareham to Shaftesbury and will be organised in three Saturday walks as per the web site at https://www.shaftesburyabbey.org.uk/st-edwards-way. After visiting St Edward's Chapel in the Church of Lady St Mary, the party will leave Wareham to cross the Common and the River Piddle and then traverse Wareham Forest via Woolsbarrow Fort. When the forest ends the route passes through East Bloxworth and then following mainly bridleways across open downland to reach Winterborne Kingston after roughly 5.5 hours. DO NOT TRAVEL THERE WITH MORE THAN 2 IN A CAR AS YOU WILL NEED TO PAIR UP WITH ANOTHER CAR OWNER TO DO THE WALK. CONTACT THE LEADER IF YOU ARE OFFERING A PLACE IN YOUR CAR OR SEEKING TO SHARE THE CAR OF SOMEONE ELSE.
Travel by car to Winterborne Kingston (allow 1.8 hours). Go to the church and find on street parking on the roads north of the church on the road running north and parallel with the main road and then meet on the road east of the church for 10.00. The party will then share cars to Wareham leaving half behind. At Wareham use the long stay Connegar Lane Car Park at 7 Church Lane Wareham BH20 4NQ. Bring a picnic for lunch and the mid-morning break and plenty of drink. Such inclines as there are gradual and the terrain is mainly easy going. On arriving at the finish the party will then need to recover the cars from Wareham.
