Overview

The walk starts at the rail station in St Margarets railway station, heading along the High Street in Stanstead Abbotts then proceeding  through the open wheat fields and countryside of East Hertfordshire into the Ash Valley. It then passes through the Amwell Nature Reserve before returning to St Margarets along the Lea Navigation.

There will be an opportunity for a drink in the Jolly Fisherman pub at the end of the walk.

Travel details: Take the 08.57 from London Liverpool Street arriving at Tottenham Hale (also on the Victoria Line) at 09.10. Change to catch the 09.26 arriving at St Margarets at 09.52. There are two trains an hour back to London Liverpool Street. Buy a return ticket to St Margarets.

Those with Over 60s TfL cards or Freedom Passes should buy a return ticket from Enfield Lock. There are no toilets at St Margarets station but there are at Tottenham Hale.
