We are the Alton Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Walk along St Swithun's Way from Alresford to Winchester. We will catch the 64 bus from Alton (or Four Marks) to The Cricketers, New Alresford and then continue our way on foot along fairly flat roads and paths that follow the course of the River Itchen. The route finishes at Winchester Cathedral where walkers can enjoy the festivities of the famous Winchester Christmas Market. The 64 bus leaves from Broadway, near King Alfred's statue, every 30 minutes and will return walkers to Alresford, Four Marks and Alton.
Bring drink, snacks and lunch. Wear suitable footwear, clothes and waterproofs for winter walking and expect rain and mud. No facilities on route but plenty available in Winchester. No dogs.
Parking available behind Alton Health Centre. Catch the 64 bus leaving Alton Station at 9.15, High Street 9.18, Sports Centre 9.24 or Four Marks, Station Approach 9.31. Leader will get on at Four Marks.
